ending
Est. January 28th, 2008 – Retired June 1st 2009

Hey guys! It’s your Assassinator again :) I’m back to write some important stuff regarding the future of this blog, some gossip, stats and stuff like that! This is basically the last post to be posted at this blog so please read on and enjoy it while it’s still up!

Go Bananaz! was initially founded by Benny Woodchopper back in January 2008, this is the first post: Click, back then it was written in Swedish. The time passed and sometime in autumn 2008 I started to do guest-post for benny to add some diversity, Benny retired back in november: Click, and I took over. Since then the blog has been loosing viewers, and whilst the all time high was reached just two months after the founding – it hasn’t quite reached that peak for a second time. Even though it’s sad, that isn’t the reason I’m writing this.

My time with the blog has truly been awesome, I’ve felt a lot of appreciation from you readers: some have liked the stuff I’ve been doing whilst others haven’t liked it as much. Regardless of that I’m feeling that the amount of time that I’ve been putting in to this blog haven’t been compensated in terms of increasing viewer counts and stuff like that, that has been one of the main factors that the posts haven’t been as frequent for the last couple of months!

I could also bring up the debate whether to blog or not to blog, and what the record labels and huge artists think about it. Here’s my true point of view: When a producer is new in the scene, he is doing everything he can to be published at blogs and such (I’ve been getting LOADS, and LOADS of emails by talents wanting me to publish them), but as soon as you’re coming up in to the B- or A-class of producers, everything about blogs seems to purely suck and you start hating the blogs for publishing your tracks. I believe that blogs are a great way to promote stuff, whether your a big or small producer (or label) – although you have probably noticed that the big labels have been doing their job quite well by disabling most of my links here at the blog, so here’s my response: Come on, if you don’t want me to give you free promotion, then please write me an email and we’ll sort it out – I don’t bite.

Further on there are lots of great blogs out there, some of them being quite provocative by posting immense amounts of tracks – some enjoy it and some do not. This blog has been run in a way that fills up the purpose of encouraging people to buy the tracks, discover new artists and labels. Even though not every post has been perfect in this sense, it has always been the intention, both by me and Benny – now that we have that sorted out, that’s the reason no requests have been filled.

All in all, it’s really not that easy operating in a gray-zone, some kind of middle thing between piracy and friendship with the labels: every participant in this game of electronic music has to be able to decide how they wan’t it, as the situation is now I believe it’s not quite sustainable. I’m truly hoping for new ways to promote music. It’s not easy to discuss this because in one way blogs are needed for the labels, but on the other hand – they musn’t be used, so how do we solve that problem? Well, I have no idea.

Honestly, it’s quite hard to understand the different behaviours of some producers: Style Of Eye said that he thinks that blogs are good for everyone (check out the cuepoint.tv interview), whilst Radio Slave did a global rant because he thinks it sucks – http://www.beatportal.com/feed/item/radio-slave-attacks-mp3-blogs/ well of course there are lots of things you can argue about, and here are some vital points:

Every DJ should be paying for his or her music
Every producer should get the recognition he deserves
Every label should promote their artists
Everyone downloading tracks from blogs should buy the tracks if they like them

Well, can all these points be filled? I believe it depends on who you are, if you are part of the community (i.e. you’re a dj, producer, label owner etc.), then it’s your obligation to support the other producers – if you want them to support you back! But then we have “regular people”, do they have to buy all the tracks at beatport when they’re getting 320’s served at blogs like these? Well, I think this is where the diskussion starts to become interesting: I believe that all the harsh words regarding people downloading music and not supporting the artists is about the people in the business doing so, and yeah – god damn it sucks. But when it comes to “regular” people and enthusiasts, I actually do not think or believe they are obliged to buy the tracks, simple as that.

My point of view at the scene of electronic music is that it is a huge game played by the djs, producers and label owners – if you’re not part of the game, then you shouldn’t have to play it (only if you want to of course).

Anyways, I hope this blog has been at least somewhat influential to the scene, to you readers, to everyone that has stumbled upon it. I hope you’ve discovered new and awesome artists and tracks here, and I hope it has been a pleasure reading it!

I got this in my mailbox today:

Beatport link:

https://www.beatport.com/en-US/html/content/release/detail/173963/late_night_avenue

Carl B & Mikael Weermets are good friends and one day they decided to make a track together. This is the result! Late Night Avenue is some seriously great melodic music, almost on the edge of being trancy (some might say it is).

The original mix comes together with Carl B’s own little Drum Dub which is a serious banger but not the kind of music we’re used to hear from this young, swedish trance guru!

“Late Night Avenue” have been supported by Gareth Emery, M.I.K.E, Pedro Del Mar, Lange, Topher Jones, Kris O’Neil, Setrise, Amadeus…

Here’s some feedback we’ve received:

TyDi – “VERY COOL!!”

Gareth Emery – “I’m just listening to your Late Night Avenue record – seriously cool record! Definitely going to be playing this at both gigs this weekend.”

Topher Jones – “Cool, unique tune. Will support this in my radio show!”

Mango – “Thnx for the promo! Nice dancefloor filler! Loving the original mix!”

Masi & Mello – “Original mix is a nice track. Very melodic feel with a tight bassline! The drum dub is big-room monster! Another good one from Nellie.”

Support it! /The Assassinator

Yeah I know you’ve all been waiting for this all weekend. I’m back with some amazing tracks to put under the spotlight! The first track is a new one out on Cocoon called “All Yours” by the Polish guy Jacek Sienkiewicz, and boy is this good or what! six minute technotrack that totally blows your mind off – this is for the conscious dancefloor! The second track is a new remix by Dubfire, he has been giving some SERIOUS treatment to an all time favorite producer of mine: DJ Yellow. This time Dubfire really pulls the dark strings, this is really really dark!

Jacek Sienkiewicz- All Yours (Original Mix) (Or buy it here)

Dj Yellow – 1st Step (Dubfires Dubstep Re-Edit) (Or buy it here)

I know you’ll love this stuff, so please drop some comments and say you do :D /THE ASSASSINATOR OF DOOM AND DESTRUCTION (and sneakers)

Yup some hot n’ fresh clubbangers tonight! I’ve been doin’ some research and the Sour Grapes have remixed technodude “Kanio” – and holy F*CK, this is some serious dancefloor-rippin going on! It appears as Chris Lake is having some new stuff going on as well, check the Sour Grapes myspace and listen to their remix of it… quite amusing. Further on, Zoo Brazil has made another ripper together with Adam Sky called “Circle Jerk”, it’s new, fresh and totally different! Awesome stuff!

The Assassinator is back with an exquicite selection for y’all. One of the tracks is a new take by Goldwill on Andomat 3000’s track Delirium Tremens which is simply pure gold! It’s new, so grab it while it’s hot! The other track for the night is a track that I belive didn’t get enough recognition. It’s a B-side from the latest EP on Objektivity (that would be sometime in march) that I think is totally awesome, produced by DJ Ino.

Swedish Nellie recordings are releasing some new hot shit today – taking a quick view on the cover, I found out that Sashbug is actuallu two thirds of Sour Grapes that I’ve covered before here on the blog. So how does two thirds of a group that has been supported by almost every single huge DJ in the world sound? Well here you have the answer, and Im happy to say that its beautiful! It would be a crime not to check it out, so here’s a BP link:

So what are the big guys saying? Let’s find out….

Masi (from Masi & Mello) says “…honestly, I love this fu**ing track! Was just mixing with it now. Had to play it twice. I’m def gonna drop it next week! It has an infectious melody.”

it seems that Beltek likes it as well: “I prefer the original mix of Sources, sounds really great. Keep it up!”

Mango makes a pretty strong statement:  “Love the original mix!”

Sandro Monte definately seems to like this stuff! : “FULL SUPPORT ON ORIGINAL MIX! I LOVE THIS TRACK!!!”

Well.. that’s my brief announcement for tonight! I’ll be back tomorrow with some absolutely tremendous techno that you’ve never heard before! Take care, drop some comments if you like this stuff and show some love! /The Assasinator

Well the title pretty much says it all! The guys at cuepoint never cease to amaze :)

Joia 057 jpg

We’re all familiar with the Swedish imprint Joia. Boasting with awesome artists, it’s one of those labels that somehow always seems to satisfy my taste in one way or another. It has been featured a couple of times here on Go Bananaz, with pretty much solely positive feedback from you readers – so I thought it would be a great time featuring yet another release tonight!

Per QX is having his first release on Joia, the track is called intensity and it’s a serious piece of solid house music with featured remixes from swedish guys Albin Myers and Mikael Weermets. The release is out today on beatport and I’ve taken my time for a short interview with one of the remixers, Mikael Weermets (as this is his first contribution to Joia as well, besides Per QX), so read on and check out what he has to say about the release as well as some other gossip worth reading.

Check out the whole release here:

Interview with one of the remixers, Mikael Weermets

Getting to do a remix that will be released on Joia must be a great honour, what does it take, or more precisely – how did you get this opportunity?

M.W. – Its definitely a great honour for me, JOIA is and has always been one of my favourite labels, always playing their stuff, its pure quality, so when
Jonas (Sellberg) asked me to do the remix i was thrilled of course. Being part of a label that is so big, and had so many great releases with Eric Prydz,
Axwell, Henrik and the other guys is something very special for me.

Do you have any relation to the guys at Joia besides this remix job? What are they like?

M.W. – Well, me & Jonas just met a few years ago, had a great night togheter, and bonded, so i invited him down to Gothenburg to my current residency, and
after that, we have been really good friends. Also Albin Myers is a good friend of mine, we met a few years back on a gig called Housetåget, he also remixed one of my earlier releases called Euforia, thanks to Albin, it got a great support all over the globe.

About Jonas Sellberg, next week we are doing two back2back performances, the first one in Jönköping on Tuesday at Club Caj, if youre in the neigbourhood,
dont miss out. The second one is in Gothenburg on the terrace of Nivå. We did the Nivå terrace two times before, once with Norman Doray, Arno Cost &
Sandro Monte, the second time around with the mighty D.O.N.S. This time its just us two, so i think that it will be a night to remember!

Many aspiring producers are striving to get their early material out on big labels such as Joia, do you believe it is important to release tracks on big labels at an early stage in a career as a producer?

M.W. – There are so many fabolous labels around today, i think the most important thing is to find a label you really can relate to, that promotes your
tracks the right way and to the right people. Dont stress, if you work hard and try to do something that personofies you, you will succeed!

With a remix on Joia, what are your plans for the future? Apparently this must give you some kind of privileges in the business!

M.W. – I have a lot of big plans actually, a few i just cant tell you about right now, but i sure can tell you that i have a duo release with the magical
trancemegasuperhero Carl B comin up on Nellie the first of June, its a rough, melodic progressive bomb who is being played all over the globe as we
speak, feeling good about it. My next “Mikael Weermets” EP is called Eivissa and is set to release on my own label “Rhythm Royal Recordings” in the
mid June, a sharp kind of melodic dancetrack, the B-side is a kind of heavy big room-techno track, with a swinging melody to rock the floor afterhours.

Also have my new alias stuff coming out, typical post-minimal stuff, kind of laidback dancefloor tech-house. The first EP is called Bogota and has
amazing support, really happy about it! I have signed away like 7 EPs on the new alias name already, so look out for it!

on the DJing side im always busy, giging up to 6 times a week this summer, being busy as hell, but thats the way i want it to be, love to travel and
play at new places, meeting new people and gathering new experiences.

Spill the beans about anything you want here, starting…. now!

M.W. – Gonna do a traditional thank you to all the guys who support me, buying my music, or waving their hands or shouting at the gigs, all the small
things are very valuable to me, keeps me going, love you all for it! Please keep on visiting www.myspace.com/mikaelweermets for new tracks, info
& any other stuff you may need! BIG love!

Then a special thanks of course to Jonas Sellberg & Luciano Ingrosso for my entrance to the JOIA-family!

/The Assassinator

Recipe for a successful partybus:

1. Get a bus
2. Fill it with lots of people
3. Make sure there’s a soundsystem
4. Get Dubfire to spin it

result:

Beatport sponsored/featured my recent gig in Slovenia for Dan Elektronike, and I decided what better way to travel from Vilnius to Kuanas than by Party Bus?

We loaded the bus with 50 fans and I DJed for them on the 90 minute drive to the venue.

Right, so there is this steamin hot remix by Christopher Norman of the Discount Rhinos’ new track floating around that’s pretty awesome – Quality techno sort of mashed upp with cool breaks, I’m really enjoying it. Also, there is this even more steamin tune by Emmanuel called Show Time out on Get Physical (yeah you know I love Get Physical) that also seems to good to be true! Be sure to check them both out while they’re hot!
